BD Biosciences Adopts VisualCalc Dashboard Software
BD Biosciences Selects VisualCalc Dashboard To Help Analyze Complex Life Sciences Data
El Dorado Hills, Calif. - October 22, 2007 - VisualCalc, the leading provider of web-based analysis software, today announced that the Immune Function group within BD Biosciences has adopted VisualCalc Dashboard as a solution to help analyze complex flow cytometry data.
VisualCalc Dashboard helps companies quickly and easily analyze their complex business data. VisualCalc Dashboard takes advantage of graphical interface techniques to simplify the process of transforming a company’s complex data into easy-to-understand insight, leading to quicker, better-informed business decisions.
Prior to adopting VisualCalc Dashboard, the Immune Function group used Microsoft Excel to analyze sample data collected by its flow cytometers. However, Excel was not well suited to handle the vast amount of data contained in their datasets. In addition, using Excel was a manual, cumbersome process that was not only time-consuming, but also constraining in terms of its ability to easily manipulate data for advanced analysis. Finally, Excel did not facilitate the sharing of analyzed data with the group's partners and customers.
VisualCalc Dashboard enables the Immune Function group to streamline their analysis process, increasing efficiency and saving time and money. VisualCalc Dashboard also allows the group to "slice-and-dice" their dataset across multiple dimensions, enabling them to develop correlations across sample sets, identify common trends, and develop answers to specific study questions. The group is also using VisualCalc Dashboard to filter their datasets, so they can focus their analysis on specific parameters or groups of sample subsets that require more in-depth examination. Finally, VisualCalc Dashboard enables the Immune Function group to easily share their data analysis results with third parties, such as research partners.
"VisualCalc Dashboard is an affordable, easy-to-use solution that helps us analyze our complex data," said Holden Maecker, Ph.D., Group Manager for Immunology at BD Biosciences. "It also enables us to share rich, dynamic data with our research partners."
Unlike the expensive, complex business intelligence solutions available on the market today, VisualCalc Dashboard is quick-to-implement, easy-to-use, and affordably priced, but at the same time offers the interactivity, customization and "drill-down" analysis capabilities only found in high-end solutions.
"BD Biosciences is a great example of a company using VisualCalc Dashboard to analyze non-traditional business data, and share the results of these analyses with others," said Amit Mazumdar, CEO of VisualCalc. "This points towards the power and versatility of our solution."
